Caldwell Mayor Jarom Wagoner emphasized the importance of expanding the economy for the city’s future growth during his State of the City address on Wednesday. He highlighted Caldwell’s partnerships with new businesses, such as the recently opened D&B Supply retail store, as crucial for the city’s development. Wagoner noted that these investments are vital in providing jobs for residents and increasing the city’s tax base through retail sales and enhanced land values.

Caldwell is experiencing rapid growth, with a yearly 5% growth rate, making it one of the fastest-growing cities in the U.S. The Mayor acknowledged that while the Zoning and Planning Department is keeping up with the changes, challenges remain in housing, transportation, and emergency services. He stressed the importance of ensuring that the police and fire departments grow by at least 5% per year to meet the needs of the expanding population.
