The United Nations representative in Vietnam highlighted the importance of targeting young people and innovators to promote creativity and make Vietnam a regional innovation center. Ms. Paluline Tamesis made these remarks at the 2024 World Creativity and Innovation Day response ceremony organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology. She commended Vietnam for its progress and potential, as evidenced by its ranking on the global innovation index (GII), and emphasized the importance of creativity in achieving development goals.

Ms. Tamesis stressed that creativity is not limited to scientists but also includes young people and ethnic minority groups, and encouraged empowering young people in STEM fields. The Minister of Science and Technology, Huynh Thanh Dat, also spoke about Vietnam’s transition to a growth model based on science, technology, and innovation.

To promote creativity and innovation, the Minister outlined three key tasks: raising awareness about their role in socio-economic development, developing a national innovation system, and launching innovation activities in 2024. This ceremony marked the third year that the Ministry of Science and Technology organized an event to respond to World Creativity and Innovation Day with the aim of raising awareness and promoting innovation activities.

The event included a scientific conference on innovation activities and creative startups, discussing current status of innovation in Vietnamese businesses, policies for ecosystem development, and tools for measuring innovation at industry level. This focus on promoting creativity and innovation among young people
