Universal Pictures is eager to keep actor Jonathan Bailey on board for future projects, particularly for its upcoming film in the Wicked franchise. Bailey has already been in discussions for a prominent role in the studio’s new take on the Jurassic World franchise, which has been confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter.

Scarlett Johansson is already attached to the project, with Gareth Edwards set to direct and a screenplay from Jurassic Park writer David Koepp. Amblin Entertainment is also involved in the collaboration with Universal for this film, which will extend the world originally created by Michael Crichton and brought to life by Steven Spielberg in 1993’s Jurassic Park. Subsequent films in the series were directed by Spielberg and Joe Johnston.

Colin Trevorrow revitalized the franchise in 2015 with Jurassic World, starring Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard. The film explored a dinosaur-filled park that was now open to the public. Pratt and Howard reprised their roles in two more films, including Dominion in 2022, which united stars from both the original Jurassic Park and Jurassic World. The upcoming film is expected to focus on new characters.

During Universal’s recent presentation at CinemaCon, Bailey made an appearance and is known for his role in the Showtime limited series Fellow Travelers, which earned him a Critics Choice Award. Bailey is represented by CAA, Anonymous Content, and Hansen Jacobson.
