The recent full-day workshop held on April 11th at Olympic House in Lausanne provided a valuable opportunity for sports organizations and betting entities to come together and align their approaches before the upcoming Olympic Games Paris 2024 and UEFA EURO 2024. The goal was to strengthen collaboration, share knowledge, and ensure efficient information exchange during these major events.

The meeting was attended by representatives from several International Federations (IFs), who not only shared their experiences but also connected with the betting sector to gain new insights into the latest trends in sports betting. This allowed IFs to better understand how to work with betting entities to safeguard the integrity of their own events.

The workshop began with presentations by the Olympic Movement Unit on the Prevention of the Manipulation of Competitions (OM Unit PMC) and UEFA’s Anti-Match-Fixing Unit. These presentations outlined the strategies and monitoring systems used by both organizations to detect irregularities and cheating. The OM Unit PMC, established in 2017 to enforce the Olympic Movement Code on the Prevention of the Manipulation of Competitions, follows a three-pillar strategy that includes regulation and legislation, awareness raising and capacity building, and intelligence and investigations.
