Two men from the Los Angeles area were arrested in Palm Desert following a theft at a business. The arrests were made after a short pursuit related to an investigation of an earlier theft. One of the men was a 47-year-old from Glendale, while the other was a 40-year-old from Hollywood.

The incident began on a Monday at around 5:30 p.m., when deputies responded to a report of grand theft at a business on the 73000 block of El Paseo. They discovered that two men had entered the business, hidden merchandise on themselves, and left without paying. They then fled in a white, newer-model Lexus.

The investigation was taken over by the Palm Desert Special Enforcement Team (SET) and the Palm Desert Business District Team (BDT). The suspects were located at a shopping center in La Quinta at around 8:35 p.m., where they attempted to flee but were apprehended after a brief pursuit.

The stolen items, along with suspected stolen wine bottles and medication, were recovered by deputies from inside the suspects’ vehicle. Both men were booked into the John Benoit Detention Center for grand theft and felony evading.

The investigation is still ongoing, and anyone with information about the theft or the recovered items is urged to contact Deputy Hindiyeh or Deputy Botello at the Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station. They can be reached at 760-836-1600.
