Tulsa, Oklahoma is among several cities and towns across the country that are offering cash incentives for people to move and settle down in their communities. The city offered Ryann Cooke $10,000 to relocate there from Washington, DC. Cooke, a social media professional in her late 20s, made the move in June 2022 and highlighted the lower cost of living in Oklahoma compared to DC as a major draw.

According to Cooke, the financial assistance provided by Tulsa Remote, the program behind the relocation initiative in the city, helped her secure an apartment and live independently for the first time. The initiative aims to attract new residents to Tulsa and other similar programs around the country seek to increase population numbers and stimulate local economies by bringing in new talent and consumer spending.

The Midwest and South are just a few examples of places that offer relocation incentives. These programs share a common goal of enticing individuals to make a move and contribute to the growth and development of their communities.
