On Tuesday, former President Donald Trump took to the Truth Social platform to express his frustration over the gag order he is currently under in his New York criminal hush money trial. He accused the order of hindering his Constitutional right to free speech and claimed that he is the only Presidential Candidate in history to be gagged.
However, it is important to note that Trump is not prohibited from speaking at the trial. Instead, he is restricted from making statements about witnesses, jurors, prosecutors, court staff, and family members of those individuals. This morning, he was fined $9,000 by Judge Juan Merchan for violating the gag order in nine different posts on social media and his campaign website.
Despite these restrictions, Trump continues to assert his right to free speech and opposition to the limitations imposed on him during the trial. He criticized the order after being fined for violations and accused the judge of interfering in the 2024 presidential election by restricting his freedom of speech.
