Nestled within a reflection nebula, a trio of brilliant stars shines brightly in a stunning new image captured by NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope. The triple-star system includes HP Tau, HP Tau G2, and HP Tau G3.

HP Tau, the largest of the three stars, is classified as a T Tauri star, a type of young variable star that has not yet initiated nuclear fusion but is on the path to evolving into a hydrogen-fueled star similar to our Sun. These young stars are often found surrounded by the remnants of the dust and gas clouds from which they originally formed. At approximately 10 million years old, HP Tau is much younger than the approximately 4.6 billion-year-old age of our Sun.

The unique beauty of this cosmic scene offers a glimpse into the early stages of star formation and evolution, highlighting the diversity and complexity of the universe. The trio of stars in this image are nestled within a reflection nebula, a cloud of gas and dust that reflects the light of nearby stars, creating a stunning display of colors and patterns.
