The Capital Region will be well represented in the postseason, with three men’s college lacrosse teams earning spots in the NCAA and Division III tournaments. Firstly, the University at Albany men’s team has secured a place in the NCAA Division I tournament after winning the America East tournament championship. They will host Sacred Heart on Wednesday, having won four consecutive games and seven of their last nine.

Secondly, in Division III, both RPI and Union have also earned berths in the national tournament. RPI has a record of 16-2 and secured an opening-round bye after winning the Liberty League tournament championship against RIT. They will host either St. Mary’s (Md.) or Farmingdale State on Saturday. Only two teams, St. Lawrence and Amherst, have managed to defeat RPI this season. On the other hand, Union has a record of 12-5 and will host Stevenson (Md.) in a second-round tournament game on Saturday afternoon. A win will give Union the opportunity to play another home game as Schenectady is one of the hosts for the D-III tournament pods.

The Great Danes have been on a hot streak, while RPI has had an impressive season so far. Both teams are eager to continue their success and make their mark in their respective tournaments. The postseason is finally here, and it promises to be an exciting time for these Capital Region teams!
