A newly opened small business located on Hecla Street in Laurium, which was scheduled to open earlier this week, has indefinitely postponed its grand opening following a vandalism incident. Erin Turner, the owner of Copper Country Sweets, had her bakery targeted by vandals who threw a brick through the front window on April 29 or 30.

Turner announced the delay on Copper Country Sweets’ Facebook page, stating that the vandalism incident had caused significant damage to her business and forced her to push back the opening date. In response, Mike LaMotte, owner of Fitzgerald’s Restaurant in Eagle River, initiated a donation campaign to support Turner and her business.

The Fitzgerald’s Restaurant Tock page allows for purchasing tickets to donate to Turner and show support for her during this difficult time. The Laurium Police Department was unable to provide any comment on the incident.

Those interested in contributing to the fundraising efforts can visit www.exploretock.com and search for Fitzgerald’s Restaurant. The donations collected will be directed towards supporting Turner and Copper Country Sweets during this challenging time.
