Tottenham Hotspur have received a formal offer for full-back Djed Spence from Italian Serie A side Genoa, as reported by Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano. The player spent the latter half of the season on loan at Genoa from Spurs, following a loan spell at Leeds United in the Championship earlier in the campaign.
Genoa had negotiated an option to buy set at £10m in the loan deal, but they feel this price is too high and are looking to pay less. As a result, they have formally approached Tottenham with an offer for Spence.
The sporting director of the Italian club recently mentioned that they see untapped potential and Champions League quality in Spence, valuing him for his attacking threat on the flanks. However, under manager Ange Postecoglou, Spence is not currently in favor at Tottenham and the club is willing to sell him.
Spurs will only consider selling if the bid from Genoa meets their expectations. The situation with Spence remains uncertain as negotiations continue between the two clubs.
