Prof. Dr. Phung Van Dong is a young physics professor at Phenikaa University, Vietnam, who has made significant discoveries in the field of theoretical physics. He developed a model that can predict the mass of neutrinos and the presence of dark matter, shedding light on the mysteries of the universe.

Prof. Dong shared that his initial interest in math led him to pursue a career in physics. Despite facing challenges in finding a job after graduating, he turned to research and ultimately delved into the fascinating world of theoretical physics. His research focuses on understanding the structure and dynamics of the universe, particularly exploring the complexities of neutrino mass and dark matter, which play crucial roles in shaping the universe.

The 3-3-1-1 model developed by Prof. Dong and his team is based on standard symmetry principles and aims to predict the existence and characteristics of dark matter. With an estimated 85% of the galaxy’s composition being dark matter, understanding its properties is essential for unraveling the mysteries of the cosmos. The model proposes a consistent theory that reveals the nature of dark matter, its interactions with normal matter, and its implications for the universe’s evolution.

Sharing his experiences and insights, Prof. Dong emphasized the importance of perseverance, continuous learning, and critical thinking in scientific research. He believes that fostering a supportive research environment and embracing new challenges are key to advancing in the scientific field.

As a recipient of the prestigious Ta Quang Buu Award, Prof. Dong views it as a landmark achievement that has propelled his research and enabled him to build a strong research group at Phenikaa University.

The upcoming 2024 Ta Quang Buu Award ceremony represents a celebration of scientific excellence and innovation in Vietnam. Prof. Dong stressed
