Vera Titunik is returning to The Times as a member of the Business department. Prior to her time at Headway, Vera had a 13-year tenure at The Times, serving as an editor at the Magazine and Sunday Business editor. She also worked as an executive editor at newyorker.com and then as the features editor at Wired before spending time at The American Lawyer magazine.

In her new role in the Biz department, Vera will be working with a team of reporters who specialize in feature writing and beat reporting. These reporters will produce stories for both Sunday Business and the daily report. She has already worked with some of the reporters that she will be collaborating with, having served as an editor for David Segal and worked on a Headway story with Conor Dougherty last year. Both David and Conor have expressed their excitement about Vera rejoining the team.

Matt Thompson, the editor of Headway, highlighted Vera’s exceptional qualities as an editor, describing her as being among the most humane, diligent, thoughtful, and creative editors he knows. He expressed his happiness that Vera will be working closely with the team. I am personally thrilled to have Vera join us as I had tried to recruit her during my time at Businessweek along with another colleague Noreen Malone who is now part of the Biz team.

Vera Titunik is returning to The Times after having spent three years away from her previous role at Headway where she focused on editing enterprise stories that addressed national and community challenges and potential solutions. Prior to this stint, she had been a veteran journalist for 13 years serving in various roles such as Magazine editor and Sunday Business editor while also working briefly at other publications like newyorker.com and Wired.

In her new role in Biz department, she will be joining a team of reporters specializing in feature writing and beat reporting who produce stories for both Sunday Business section and daily report. She has already worked with some of them before such as David Segal whom she edited while serving as headway’s deputy editor last year.

Matt Thompson described her qualities while he was her former boss stating that she was one of the most humane, diligent, thoughtful, creative editors he knew.
