The International Day of Sport for Development and Peace (IDSDP) in 2024 has a theme of “Sport for the Promotion of Peaceful and Inclusive Societies.” This theme highlights the power of sport to bring about social change, especially in the face of global challenges. The goal is to make a lasting impact on people’s lives by promoting peace and inclusivity through sports.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) plays a key role in IDSDP through its Olympism365 program. This initiative supports a wide range of projects and initiatives that use sport-based approaches to positively impact people’s lives in areas such as education, employment, sustainability, equality, inclusion, health, crime prevention, peace, and safety. Additionally, Olympism365 focuses on scaling new and innovative approaches to sport for development, including maximizing the positive social impact of esports and urban sports.

The IOC collaborates closely with over 35 organizations, including United Nations agencies, international development organizations, and the sport movement in over 70 countries. Through these collaborations, the IOC aims to co-invest in community sport and social change projects, train and build the capacity of individuals and organizations to use sports for social good, generate insights, research, and knowledge to shape policy
