In a CNN interview, Senator Rafael Warnock (D-Ga.) criticized former President Trump’s decision to sell branded Bibles, calling it a “risky business.” The senator, who is also a reverend, stated that selling Bibles for profit goes against the teachings of Christianity and is a misuse of sacred objects.

Warnock highlighted the irony of Trump endorsing Bibles despite his history of dishonesty and questionable behavior. The Bibles, called “God Bless USA,” were put up for sale in partnership with country singer Lee Greenwood, each priced at $60 and including copies of the Constitution and Declaration of Independence. This move has raised concerns about the increasing influence of Christian nationalism in the country.

The senator’s statements were echoed by former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), who suggested that Trump should read the Bible instead of selling it. Warnock criticized Trump’s attempt to commercialize religious symbols and warned that it was a dangerous path to take. He cited biblical verses that prohibit lying and deceit, suggesting that Trump should reconsider his actions.

The sale of branded Bibles by Trump has faced widespread criticism and mockery, with many questioning the former president’s motives. The act has been viewed as an attempt to profit off religious sentiment and has been met with skepticism from various political figures.
