Rediance, an international sales agent based in China, has acquired the worldwide sales rights to the feature documentary “The Falling Sky.” Directed by Eryk Rocha and Gabriela Carneiro da Cunha, the film will have its world premiere at Cannes next month in the Directors Fortnight section.

Set in the heart of the Amazon rainforest, “The Falling Sky” focuses on the Yanomami people as its main subjects. Adapted from the book of the same name by Yanomami shaman and leader Davi Kopenawa and French anthropologist Bruce Albert, the film captures a powerful message about their way of life being threatened by outsiders. Through stunning visuals and intricate sound design, “The Falling Sky” sheds light on Yanomami cosmology and emphasizes the importance of their knowledge.

Director Rocha’s tenth feature film is a poignant critique of how external forces have impacted the lives of indigenous communities like those living in Yanomami territory. As a co-director with Carneiro da Cunha, who has extensive experience working in Brazil’s Amazon region, they bring a unique perspective to this important topic. The duo previously collaborated on “Edna” and a collection of short films directed by Yanomami filmmakers.

Produced by Aruac Filmes and co-produced by Hutukara Associação Yanomami and Stemal Entertainment with Rai Cinema, in collaboration with Les Films d’Ici, “The Falling Sky” promises to be an intimate look into one of the world’s most mysterious cultures. At Cannes, Rediance will also be handling Chinese-speaking territories for another highly anticipated project – “Grand Tour,” which premieres in the main competition of the Official Selection.

Apart from “The Falling Sky,” Rediance has been actively promoting its recent Berlin titles such as Nele Wohlatz’s “Sleep With Your Eyes Open” and Qu Youjia’s “She Sat There Like All Ordinary Ones.” Last year they were involved in handling Anthony Chen’s critically acclaimed film “The Breaking Ice,” showcasing their commitment to showcasing diverse cinema from around
