In recent news, Tesla is facing a new legal battle as former factory workers have filed a proposed class action lawsuit in California. The two ex-employees are claiming that Tesla violated labor laws under California law. This lawsuit adds to the company’s ongoing legal troubles, as they are currently facing a racial discrimination lawsuit and a wrongful death suit.

The proposed class action lawsuit, filed in federal court in California, seeks over $5 million in damages. The two former workers allege that Tesla failed to pay overtime and sick time, reimburse employees for work expenses, provide adequate breaks, and give employees written quotes of their expected output. These allegations come on top of the racial harassment and discrimination claims brought against Tesla by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, stating that the company allowed harassment against Black workers in its California plants.

In addition to these legal matters, Tesla is set to go to trial next week over a lawsuit brought by the family of an Apple engineer who died in a crash involving his Model X while in autopilot mode. The family claims that the autopilot design is defective and responsible for the engineer’s death. Tesla plans to call a second Apple engineer as a witness in the trial to testify that the engineer was playing a game on his phone when the crash occurred.

Tesla has not yet responded to requests for comment from Business Insider regarding these legal matters.
