The College World Series game between Tennessee and North Carolina was halted on Sunday due to an umpire change. In the bottom of the fourth inning, home plate umpire Kellen Levy was hit by a foul ball off the bat of Tennessee’s Dylan Dreiling, causing him to leave the game with a possible concussion.

Scott Cline, who was previously at second base, took over behind the plate while alternate umpire Grady Smith came in for Cline at second. The game was paused for 17 minutes as Cline had to put on proper equipment. Levy has a history with the Volunteers, having ejected former player Drew Gilbert during a game in the 2022 Knoxville Super Regional against Notre Dame.

Currently, Tennessee is leading North Carolina 4-1 in the bottom of the sixth inning. A win would advance the Volunteers to the College World Series semifinals, while a loss would result in facing Florida State in an elimination game. The outcome of the game will determine Tennessee’s path in the tournament.
