For the first time in modern history, Tennessee has advanced to the College World Series championship series. The last time the Volunteers made it to the title series was in 1951, before the NCAA introduced preliminary rounds.
Tennessee’s dominant performance against Florida State earned them a spot in the championship series. Pitcher Zander Sechrist held the Seminoles to just two late runs, while Blake Burke led the offense with a 3-for-5 performance and a solo home run in the ninth inning.
The championship series will be an all-SEC final as Texas A&M also secured their place by defeating Florida with a perfect 3-0 record. This marks the third time in four seasons that the championship series features two SEC teams, with Tennessee emerging victorious when they faced Texas A&M in the SEC Tournament with a 7-4 win.
The College World Series finals will be a best-of-three series played in Omaha on Saturday, Sunday, and possibly Monday. The first game will kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN, followed by game two on Sunday at 2 p.m. ET on ABC. If necessary, game three will take place on Monday at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN. It promises to be an exciting finale to an already thrilling College World Series.
