On Wednesday, the Syrian authorities announced the death of an Army officer in an attack carried out by an Israeli drone against two military installations in the provinces of Quneitra and Daraa. The Israeli Armed Forces have not commented on the event so far. The Syrian military sources reported that the attack occurred at around 7:00 a.m. local time and caused the martyrdom of an officer and some material losses.

The conflict between Israel and Iran in Syria has been ongoing for several years now, with Israel concerned about the threat to its security posed by Iranian influence and military presence in the region. While Iran supports the Assad regime, Israel is determined to prevent any further encroachment on its borders. The ongoing attacks and counterattacks between the two countries have highlighted the complexities and dangers of the situation in the Middle East.

Syria has been engulfed in civil war since 2011 following the repression of pro-democratic demonstrations during the Arab Spring, making it even more volatile for foreign powers to interfere with its affairs. In addition, Israel’s annexation of Golan Heights in 1981 remains a major point of contention between Israel and Syria, as well as other countries in the region who do not recognize this move as legitimate. Despite international pressure to return Golan Heights to Syria, Israel continues to maintain control over it until this day.

The Israeli authorities have acknowledged carrying out attacks in Syria, stating that their goal is to prevent Iran from establishing bases and shipping weapons to Hezbollah via Tehran’s support for Bashar al-Assad’s regime. However, these actions only fuel tensions further between Israel and Iran.

The bombings in Quneitra and Daraa regions adjacent to Golan Heights have raised concerns among both sides about possible escalation of hostilities. It remains unclear what specific weapons were targeted by Israeli drones or how many casualties there were apart from one martyrded officer.

In conclusion, tensions remain high between Israel and Iran as they continue their proxy war over Syria’s future direction. While both sides claim their actions are necessary for national security purposes, they are only adding fuel to an already volatile situation that threatens regional stability and could lead to catastrophic consequences if left unchecked.
