Northern Nevada Public Health is excited to announce the launch of a new temporary food establishment permit and online application system. This new system is designed to make it easier and more convenient for vendors to stay in compliance for upcoming special events. Starting July 1, vendors who operate at more than five special events in a calendar year will have the option to use one permit for the entire year, rather than obtaining a new permit for each event.
Kristen deBraga, Senior Environmental Health Specialist at NNPH, believes that this new permit type will help streamline the permitting and inspection process while ensuring the safety of the food being served to the community. Vendors applying for the permit will need to use a servicing area, such as a commercial kitchen with a valid county health permit. In addition, vendors will now have the ability to apply for and pay for temporary food establishment permits online.
To provide more information and answer questions about the new permit system, NNPH will be hosting a public forum on May 7 at 5:30 p.m. at NNPH Conference Rooms A/B located at 1001 E. 9th Street, Building B. The forum will cover common types of violations and provide vendors with an opportunity to learn more about the new process. A link to the Zoom stream of the forum can be found on the NNPH website.
