Since Hurricane Beryl hit Barbados, the India T20 World Cup-winning cricket team has been stranded on the island. The team had claimed a seven-run victory over South Africa to lift the trophy, but their attempts to leave have been hindered by the storm. Barbados’ international airport suspended operations as Hurricane Beryl approached, and efforts are being made to facilitate the team’s departure in the next six to 12 hours.

The storm, which was one of the strongest on record, caused widespread damage in the Caribbean with one confirmed death. Hurricane Beryl had winds of 165 miles per hour and was expected to hit Jamaica on Wednesday, prompting disaster response measures in that country. Despite these challenges, the India cricket team’s victory in the T20 World Cup marked a significant achievement after a year of heartbreak in other cricket tournaments.
