The ‘Growth Objective 2024’ event hosted by Il Sole 24 Ore saw Minister Adolfo Urso highlight that the goal set for CEO Tavares in June to produce 1 million vehicles in the shortest possible time is shared by Stellantis as a whole. Urso stressed that the significant gap between the number of cars produced, which is around 450,000, and the number of cars registered, which is 1.5 million per year, is unique to Italy and needs to be addressed.

The minister expressed his opinion that if Stellantis can fulfill its commitment to produce a million vehicles in a shorter timeframe than the current goal of 2030, this gap would be narrowed but not completely eliminated. He emphasized that it is Stellantis that needs to provide reassurance to Italy, rather than the other way around. The focus on increasing production and bridging the gap between production and registration numbers is crucial for the future of the automotive industry in Italy.

The event shed light on the importance of Stellantis meeting its production targets in a timely manner not only for the company itself but also for the Italian economy and industry as a whole. The collaboration between Stellantis and the government will play a key role in achieving these ambitious goals and ensuring a strong and competitive automotive sector in Italy.
