Southeast Bulloch High School’s STEM Club made history by becoming the Class A state champions in the Georgia Science Olympiad. The competition, held at the Georgia Institute of Technology on March 30, saw the club’s members excel in 14 of the 24 individual events. They secured eight first-place finishes, two second-place medals, and four third-place medals.

Danielle Hibbs-Heiser, a science teacher at Southeast Bulloch and the club’s STEM coach, praised the group for their remarkable achievement. “I am so proud of these students,” she said. “They have worked incredibly hard to get where they are today.”

The Georgia Science Olympiad offers students in grades 3-12 a competitive platform to enhance their science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) knowledge through collaboration. Various competitions are available throughout the school year for interested students to participate in.

Several student teams from Southeast Bulloch High School achieved medals in different categories during the event. Joseph Reddin and Krupa Pandya won first place in Detector Building, Isabelle Cruz and John Toole achieved first place in Dynamic Planet, and Chris Reyes and Ethan Pryor secured first place in Flight. The club’s success underscored their dedication and prowess in STEM disciplines, showcasing their talent and hard work.
