Peruvian athletes SMK Hazzense and SMK Magia Jr., representing e-sports team SmokeSolid Gaming, have qualified for the Grand Finals of the US region in the Fortnite Championship Series. The duo had to fight hard to make it this far after narrowly avoiding elimination during the first round.

In the first round, SMK Hazzense and SMK Magia Jr. tied for 25th place in the Upper Bracket. However, due to a difference in points, they were pushed down to 26th place and moved to the Lower Bracket, putting their advancement in jeopardy. With only 15 participants set to move on to the Grand Finals, it was a tense situation for the duo.

But with an impressive comeback, SMK Hazzense and SMK Magia Jr. managed to accumulate 90 points, securing the 14th spot and their spot in the Grand Finals. Now they will compete against 50 duos for one of three coveted spots in the 2024 Fortnite Championship Series in-person world championship.

The success of Peruvian players in Fortnite highlights the growing esports scene in South America. The team’s determination and skill have earned them recognition among the best players in their region, paving the way for others to follow suit and make their mark on this exciting new sport.
