In the bustling city of New Haven, Connecticut, a new Chief Technology Officer has been appointed – Michael Simeone. As the first technology leader for the city, Simeone will be responsible for overseeing all technological resources and ensuring their efficient use. He will also play a crucial role in decision-making processes and will develop strategies and growth plans for both the city and the Board of Education.

Excited about his new position, Simeone expressed his gratitude to Mayor Elicker, Dr. Negrón, members of the Board of Education, and the city’s information technology employees. He is eager to bring his expertise in information technology and cybersecurity to manage the city’s day-to-day technology operations while prioritizing the needs of New Haven residents.

In his new role, one of Simeone’s key responsibilities will be to collaborate with the mayor, superintendent, and their representatives to oversee IT staff members, manage technology budgets, supervise system quality assurance processes, and align technology goals across different departments within the city and Board of Education.

With over 25 years of executive IT management experience in finance, legal services, and state government under his belt, Simeone is well-equipped for this role. Recently he served as Chief Information Officer for Bendett & McHugh PC., one of Connecticut’s largest law firms. In this position he led a team of 24 IT professionals supporting major financial institutions nationwide.

Simeone’s appointment comes at a crucial time for New Haven as they continue to recover from an incident where $6 million was stolen from a compromised email account at their school board office. Fortunately $3.6 million has been recovered since then but it highlights how critical it is for cities like New Haven to have strong leadership in place when it comes to managing their technological resources efficiently while also prioritizing security measures to prevent such incidents in future
