The Sixers have agreed to a new five-year, approximately $204 million contract extension with guard Tyrese Maxey. This deal, fully guaranteed with no options, represents a significant pay raise for the 23-year-old player who was recently named the NBA’s Most Improved Player.

Maxey’s impressive performance last season, averaging 25.9 points, 6.2 assists, and 3.7 rebounds, has solidified his value to the team. Sixers President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey and head coach Nick Nurse have both expressed confidence in Maxey’s potential for growth. Morey praised Maxey’s ability to exceed expectations while Nurse highlighted the guard’s physical skills and defensive capabilities.

Assistant coach Rico Hines even went so far as to suggest that Maxey has the potential to be a Hall of Famer. The extension with Maxey comes as part of the Sixers’ offseason plan to build a competitive roster. The team has also reached agreements with other players such as Eric Gordon and Kelly Oubre Jr., as they aim to strengthen their lineup for the upcoming season. These moves reflect the team’s commitment to pursuing success and creating a winning culture in Philadelphia.
