Six members of the Ethiopian community completed their conversion to Judaism by undergoing circumcision (Brit Mila) at Haifa’s Rambam Hospital after months of waiting. The ceremony was organized in collaboration with the state conversion system under the Ministry of the Head of Government, the Ministry of Health, and the Budget Allocation Department under the Ministry of Finance.

On the day of the ceremony, six individuals from Israel’s Ethiopian community were led into the operating room by Professor Aaron Hofman from the Department of Circulatory and Transplant Surgery. Hofman is also a licensed mohel and his services as a circumcision specialist are officially recognized by organizations in Israel.

The resumption of circumcision operations, following a long hiatus partly due to the War of the Iron Swords, will enable dozens of men who have undergone conversion to complete the procedure officially and receive necessary documentation. This important step marks the final stage in their conversion process.

The completion of these circumcision procedures represents a significant milestone for those from Ethiopia’s community who have chosen to convert to Judaism. They can now fully embrace their new faith and identity within Israel’s Jewish community.
