Hemorrhoids have become a common health concern for many individuals, particularly office workers and long-distance drivers. According to Dr. Nguyen Van Hau from the Center for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and Endoscopic Surgery at Tam Anh General Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City, an increase in hemorrhoid patients has been observed in the first three months of the year. This represents a 50% increase from the previous year, with most patients being office workers.

Office workers are particularly susceptible to developing hemorrhoids due to prolonged sitting, which can affect blood circulation and lead to increased pressure on the veins in the anus and rectum. Factors such as stress, poor dietary habits, and lack of physical activity can also contribute to the development of hemorrhoids in this group.

Many patients do not seek treatment for hemorrhoids until their symptoms become severe, such as burning pain, bleeding or prolapse of the anal area. Treatment options vary depending on the severity and type of hemorrhoids, ranging from medication and lifestyle adjustments for milder cases to surgical procedures for more severe cases.

It is essential to detect and treat hemorrhoids early to prevent complications and reduce costs. Dr. Hau advises individuals with office jobs to take regular breaks from sitting, stay hydrated, manage stress, maintain a healthy diet and exercise routine to prevent hemorrhoids. Other groups at risk include long-distance drivers, sedentary individuals, pregnant women, and those with constipation or chronic diarrhea.

Hemorrhoids may not be cancerous but can significantly impact a person’s health and quality of life. They account for about 35-50% of colorectal diseases. It is vital to take care of our health by adopting healthy habits like regular exercise and maintaining a balanced diet to avoid developing these conditions.

In conclusion, hemorrhoids are a common health concern that affects many individuals worldwide. Prolonged sitting is one of the leading causes of this condition among office workers who spend long hours seated at their desks without taking breaks or engaging in physical activities that promote blood circulation. Early detection and treatment are crucial in preventing complications such as chronic bleeding or prolapse of the anal area that may require surgery or hospitalization.

Therefore, it is essential to maintain healthy habits such as taking regular breaks from sitting, staying hydrated, managing stress levels through meditation or other relaxation techniques while eating a balanced diet rich in fruits vegetables fiber-rich foods such as whole grains legumes beans nuts seeds etc., exercising regularly by doing activities like walking running cycling swimming etc., practicing good hygiene by wiping clean after bowel movements avoiding using harsh chemicals on your skin getting enough sleep regularly getting enough vitamin D exposure through natural sunlight or supplements if necessary avoiding smoking cigarettes drinking alcohol excessively consuming processed foods high sugar drinks high salt content etc., which can all contribute towards reducing your risk of developing hemorrhoids over time.
