In today’s digital age, voice has taken on a new dimension beyond mere communication. It also plays a crucial role in how we define and navigate our social identities. Sadly, voice-based discrimination remains a significant problem, particularly for members of the LGBTQI+ community. Nonconforming voices often face prejudice and subtle forms of discrimination, leading many individuals to alter or suppress their true voices.

At LLYC, we are committed to addressing this issue through our study “Free the Voices: Voice, Diversity, and Technology in the Age of AI.” This research aims to explore the importance of voice in shaping our identities, the challenges faced by diverse voices due to discrimination, and the potential of technology to either intensify or alleviate these problems in the digital realm.

Our innovative project “Free the Voices” is making history as the world’s first diverse synthetic voice bank. Collaborating with Monoceros Labs and their Fonos product, this initiative is not only raising awareness about voice-based biases but also actively working towards reducing them by promoting greater understanding and appreciation for vocal diversity. Together, we are transforming how voices are perceived and represented in society.
