Shakira has announced an upcoming world tour during a surprise performance at Coachella 2024. The Colombian singer rose from a platform during the set of Argentinian DJ Bizarrap to perform their new track, La Fuerte. Shakira disclosed that the tour will be called “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour” as the extravagant backdrop on the Sahara stage displayed the name.

In her performance, she stated, “Finally, we are going on tour. Starting here, this November in this city, can’t wait. Couldn’t ask for more.” The new tour announcement came after the release of her 12th studio album, “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran,” last month. It has been seven years since her last studio album and this new release tracks the singer’s journey from heartbreak to resurgence. Inspired in part by her breakup with former Barcelona footballer Gerard Pique, the album signifies a new phase in Shakira’s career.

Shakira had teased the announcement a day before her appearance at Coachella through an Instagram post, saying, “The wolf is coming.” In a subsequent post, she confirmed the world tour and expressed excitement to celebrate with her fans, or her “wolfpack.” This surprise announcement at Coachella has created buzz among fans and the music community at large. The festival is scheduled for two weekends, featuring headline performances from various artists like Lana Del Rey, Doja Cat, Tyler, the Creator and a reunion of No Doubt with Gwen Stefani. This famous annual festival takes place in the Colorado Desert and also includes performances from London rock band Blur and South Korean DJ and singer Peggy Gou among others.
