A 32-year-old man, who is married with children but occasionally engages in sexual activity with men, contracted gonorrhea after nearly two weeks of sleeping with a man he met through social networks. On April 7, Dr. BS.CK2 Tra Anh Duy from the Men’s Health Center for Men’s Health diagnosed the patient as bisexual, with pus discharge from the tip of the penis, and confirmed gonorrhea. The doctor prescribed antibiotic treatment and advised the patient to bring his wife for a checkup. Unfortunately, the wife also tested positive for gonorrhea, despite affirming that she did not have extramarital relationships. The husband was likely the source of infection.

Gonorrhea is a common sexually transmitted disease that can lead to dangerous complications if left untreated. Symptoms in men include painful urination, burning pain, and pus in the urethra, fever, and swollen testicles. Women may experience pus and urethral swelling, painful urination, and vaginal itching. Untreated gonorrhea can result in infertility, pelvic inflammatory disease, and other serious complications, especially for pregnant women and their babies.

Dr. Duy noted a rise in sexual diseases among young people in the LGBTQ community
