The collaboration between Ghana and Italy is setting an example for legal immigration, with a formula created by Confindustria Alto Adriatico providing training for young people in Ghana and North East Italy. This initiative, part of the broader context of friendship between the two countries, has been successful in equipping young people with skills and opportunities.

During his last day of his mission in West Africa, Sergio Mattarella visited the Don Bosco training center in Ashaiman, just outside Accra. The center has been active for 25 years and provides specialized training for chefs and workers who will have the chance to work in North East Italy for 30 days with an employment contract, accommodation provided by entrepreneurs involved in the initiative promoted by Confindustria Alto Adriatico, and Italian language courses.

Mattarella’s visit to the Bettica ship, a patrol vessel of the Italian Navy engaged in anti-piracy operations in the Gulf of Guinea as part of the ‘Gabinia’ mission, marks the end of his African mission. The mission is crucial for global coexistence and freedom of navigation. Mattarella thanks the crew for their commitment.

The African leg of Mattarella’s mission included visits to Ivory Coast and Ghana. The collaboration between these countries aims to strengthen ties and promote mutual development. Mattarella’s visit to the Bettica ship highlights Italy’s commitment to international cooperation and security.

This project contributes to the Mattei plan and makes use of provisions from the Cutro decree that establishes legal migration quotas for people undergoing training. Young people trained can then decide whether to continue working in Italy or return home.

In conclusion, this collaboration between Ghana and Italy is an excellent example of how legal immigration can be made possible through effective training programs that equip young people with skills needed to succeed anywhere they go. It also underscores how international cooperation can lead to mutually beneficial relationships that strengthen ties between nations while promoting economic growth and social development.
