Netflix has acquired the rights to a live-action series titled “Scooby-Doo! The Live-Action Series,” breathing new life into the classic Warner Bros. franchise. The competition for this series was intense, with multiple streaming platforms vying for the project, but ultimately, Netflix secured it with a commitment to high-budget production.
Greg Berlanti will produce the series in collaboration with Warner Bros. Television, while screenwriters Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg will write the scripts based on the Hanna-Barbera characters. This upcoming series offers a modern take on the beloved cartoon that first debuted in 1969, following Fred Jones, Daphne Blake, Velma Dinkley, Shaggy Rogers, and the talking Great Dane as they solve supernatural mysteries.
This deal comes after the success of another Berlanti Prods./WBTV series on Netflix called Dead Boy Detectives, which quickly climbed the ranks and became one of the most-watched series in the US shortly after its release. With a talented team behind it and the support of a major streaming platform like Netflix, “Scooby-Doo! The Live-Action Series” promises to be an exciting and engaging addition to the beloved franchise.
