Science North has made the decision to decommission their floating dock in order to make way for a new structure. This dock, which has connected visitors to the Jim Gordon Boardwalk for over three decades, was deemed unsafe for use following a recent engineering assessment. As a result, Science North has temporarily closed off access to the dock and is in the process of finalizing plans for its replacement.

The goal is to have the new structure in place by Spring 2025, at which time an alternate walking route will be indicated for visitors to access the main boardwalk. Unfortunately, this means that the William Ramsey Boat Cruise will not be able to dock at this location for the time being. Science North is exploring potential solutions and will provide updates as they become available.

It is important for public safety that people refrain from using the decommissioned dock, as it is unstable. Detailed plans for the removal of the current dock and installation of the new structure will be shared on Science North’s social media channels. They thank the community for their patience and understanding during this transition period.
