A local small business in Baton Rouge is taking the world of chocolate and science by storm. Run by LSU student Maram Khalaf and her mother Aliaa, Chocolate Bijoux combines the two passions in a unique way.

Maram, a biological science major, brings her expertise in measuring growth rates of organic food components to the table, using her knowledge to create delicious chocolates that are both healthy and tasty. Her mother’s love for chocolate sparked an interest in making it themselves, and together they have created a business that has become a full-time job for Maram with hopes for future growth.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Aliaa ran out of her chocolate stash and turned to YouTube for inspiration. Maram joined in and together they began experimenting with different recipes and techniques to create their own line of chocolates. Encouraged by their positive feedback from friends, they decided to turn their hobby into a business called Chocolate Bijoux.

Today, Maram and Aliaa work together to produce batches of 100-200 chocolates, using only the finest ingredients and techniques to create delicious treats that are both healthy and indulgent. While they are currently putting all their profits back into the business, Maram hopes to dedicate more time to growing Chocolate Bijoux after she graduates from LSU.

Those interested in ordering chocolates from Chocolate Bijoux can visit the website or message the business on Instagram. With its unique combination of science and chocolate, Chocolate Bijoux is sure to become a favorite among health-conscious chocolate lovers everywhere.
