Sardinia Merges Municipal and European Elections: A Look at the Inauguration Session and the Rise of Online Movie Streaming

In Sardinia, the decision has been made to merge municipal and European elections on June 8-9. This will be determined in two days when President of the Region, Alessandra Todde, convenes her first council meeting. Todde believes that merging the elections is both cost-effective and logical given the timeframe. She emphasized the importance of working with Council members to define priorities and methods.

The session was chaired by Lorenzo Cozzolino with Alessandra Todde among the Council members. New councilors were sworn into various portfolios including General Affairs, Local Authorities, Environment, Industry, Public Education, Health, Transport, Planning, Budget, Public Works, Tourism, Labor and Agriculture. In this 17th legislature there are 25 newcomers and 35 re-elected members sitting in the Regional Council with a total of 10 women among them.

Piero Comandini has been elected as the new president of Sardinia’s Regional Council in a secret vote during his inauguration session. He received a simple majority vote on the third ballot and was officially elected after long applause from the Chamber showed support for him. In his address Comandini emphasized working together for Sardinia’s benefit regardless of political affiliations.
