In honor of Mental Health Awareness month, Santa Barbara PATH is working to create a more trauma-informed environment and offer additional mental health and wellness programs directly onsite. The organization’s leaders have recently introduced new initiatives such as AA meetings, journaling classes, haircuts, yoga, and painting the walls with calming colors for a therapeutic atmosphere.

Santa Barbara PATH’s main goal is to establish a wellness room, but they need community support to make it happen. This initiative is part of the organization’s commitment to providing a safe and supportive temporary housing program for homeless men and women in the area. PATH offers access to 100 beds throughout the year, and accepts referrals from various partner agencies, including Cottage Health, County Behavioral Wellness, Santa Barbara Police Department, County Probation, County Adult Protective Services, and the City of Goleta.

The organization has been focusing on helping unhoused individuals who are experiencing mental health challenges. By creating a more trauma-informed environment and offering additional mental health and wellness programs onsite, they hope to provide even more support for those in need. With the help of the community, Santa Barbara PATH can continue to provide essential services for homeless individuals in the area.
