The residents of an encampment in San Rafael, California were disturbed by loud music coming from a nearby business for three consecutive nights. An individual named Bruce Gaylord, who resides in the encampment, described the noise as being as loud as a rock concert, making it impossible for him to sleep.

Gaylord shared that he ended up living in the encampment after facing some unfortunate circumstances that led to his displacement. He tried contacting the police about the noise, but no actions were taken. Feeling helpless, he sought help from homeless advocate Robbie Powelson.

Powelson traced back the disturbing noise to East Bay Tire Co., located at 773 Lincoln Ave. He contacted the tire company and asked them to stop playing their music because it was violating San Rafael’s noise ordinance. However, East Bay Tire Co. refused to cooperate with Powelson and continued to play their music despite his request for a restraining order against them.

In response to this, Powelson filed for a restraining order against East Bay Tire Co., and a judge ordered them to cease playing their music immediately. According to Powelson, the tire company claimed that their security system had placed near the encampment’s fence was responsible for the loud music. However, they did not provide any evidence or comment on this matter when reached out to for further information.

Although members of the encampment are relieved that they can finally get some rest now that East Bay Tire Co has stopped playing their music, they still face challenges with regards to their residency in San Rafael. A court hearing is scheduled for June 24th and if the city wins, they could be forced to leave
