The Moscow prosecutor’s office has launched investigations into three individuals, including historian Tamara Eidelman, actress Yana Troyanova, and singer Monetochka (Elizaveta Gyrdymova), for various reasons. These include disrespect for military glory and inciting hatred in the case of Eidelman and Troyanova, respectively, as well as evading the obligations of a “foreign agent” in the case of Monetochka.

Eidelman’s investigation was initiated after statements that show disrespect for Russia’s military glory and related memorable dates associated with the defense of the Fatherland were identified during network monitoring of her program on her YouTube channel “History Lessons with Tamara Eidelman”. The prosecutor’s office is considering initiating a criminal case under article 354.1 of the Criminal Code on rehabilitation of Nazism based on inspection materials.

Troyanova’s investigation was initiated after Alexander Bastrykin, head of Investigative Committee ordered an investigation into her due to comments she made in an interview with Novaya Gazeta Europe concerning the war in Ukraine. The Moscow prosecutor’s office completed an investigation into actress Yana Troyanova and has sent materials to investigative authorities to initiate a case for inciting hatred (part 2 of article 282 of the Criminal Code).

Furthermore, a case has been initiated against singer Monetochka (Elizaveta Gyrdymova) for evading the obligations of a “foreign agent”. All three individuals were declared “foreign agents” by Russian Ministry of Justice at different months of year. The legal proceedings are ongoing, and the outcome remains to be seen.
