The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced that Rohit Sharma will lead the 15-member Indian cricket team for the men’s T20 World Cup 2024, scheduled to take place in the West Indies and the USA in June. Hardik Pandya, who previously led the Indian T20 team in Rohit Sharma’s absence, has been selected as the vice-captain. Virat Kohli, the leading run-scorer at the IPL 2024, has also been included in the squad chosen by the selection committee led by Ajit Agarkar.
Rishabh Pant is set to make a comeback to the Indian cricket team after recovering from a car accident in December 2022. Sanju Samson has also been included as another keeper in the squad. The final squad did not feature KL Rahul, with Shubman Gill only making the reserves. Rinku Singh, known for his batting as a finisher, has also been included among the reserves.
