Denver Broncos recently signed undrafted free agent tight end Thomas Yassmin, who had a standout 2022 season at the University of Utah. Originally from Australia, Yassmin made a name for himself in football after transitioning from rugby and playing alongside the team’s seventh-round draft pick Devaughn Vele.

Yassmin’s impressive statistics in 2022 included catching 13 passes for 301 yards and six touchdowns, averaging 23.2 yards per catch. However, his 2023 season was cut short due to a season-ending injury after playing in just five games and recording eight catches for 89 yards and a touchdown.

As he joins the Denver Broncos, Yassmin will be competing for a spot among a crowded tight end room that includes players like Greg Dulcich, Lucas Krull, Adam Trautman, and Nate Adkins. The team’s head coach Sean Payton values big-bodied tight ends, giving Yassmin an opportunity to showcase his skills during training camp to secure a spot on the roster.

Yassmin’s participation in the NFL’s International Player Pathway program may also allow him to make the team’s practice squad without being included in the 16-player limit. As a player to watch this summer, Yassmin will have a chance to prove himself and potentially earn a place on the roster. Keep an eye on his progress as the season approaches.
