Welsh qualifier Jak Jones has seized a commanding 13-10 advantage over reigning champion Stuart Bingham in their World Championship semi-final. Despite initially trailing 0-5, Jones reeled off five consecutive frames, aided by three half-century breaks. Although Bingham responded with a brilliant 104 break in the final frame, only seven of the eight scheduled frames were completed due to the lengthy nature of some frames.

Meanwhile, Kyren Wilson holds a slim lead over David Gilbert in his semi-final match, which will conclude later in the day. Jones, currently ranked 44th in the world, is determined to become the lowest-ranked player to reach the final since Shaun Murphy in 2005. He achieved this feat by defeating Judd Trump in the quarter-finals.

In contrast, Bingham struggled to maintain his rhythm and made several errors throughout the match. Despite a century break in the final frame, Bingham’s loose safety shots and missed opportunities allowed Jones to take control and establish a strong position for reaching the final.

Jones remained unflustered under pressure and capitalized on Bingham’s mistakes to gain an advantage. The Welshman is now well positioned to reach the World Championship Final and make history as the lowest ranked player to do so since Murphy almost a decade ago.
