In Europe, the World Vapers’ Alliance is leading a protest against the ban on flavors in safer nicotine products. The group is fighting for the rights of vapers and believes that this ban will bypass democratic processes and disregard the voices of citizens who have signed a petition against it.

The European Commission has not consulted the public on a new Tobacco Products Directive, leaving room for Ministers to push for a flavor ban without proper scientific evaluation, public consultation, or parliamentary scrutiny. This proposal contradicts the findings of numerous submissions supporting safer nicotine products, which emphasized the importance of flavors in helping smokers transition away from cigarettes.

The World Vapers’ Alliance urges EU Health Ministers to reject this proposal and focus on policies that are informed by science and reflect public opinion. They believe that alternative products are critical in reducing smoking rates and protecting public health. The organization emphasizes that policymakers must prioritize harm reduction when shaping regulations for nicotine products.
