The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has awarded $1,901,154 in federal funding to the Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) through its Strengthening U.S. Public Health Infrastructure, Workforce, and Data Systems grant. This investment will support Rhode Island’s public health infrastructure by strengthening its workforce, foundational capabilities, technology, data modernization and physical health infrastructure.

The funding aims to improve the health and well-being of Rhode Islanders by connecting more patients to care, including preventative care. The senators and congressmen emphasized the importance of supporting RIDOH and its health partners in their efforts to keep communities healthy.

U.S. Senators Sheldon Whitehouse and Jack Reed and Congressmen Seth Magaziner and Gabe Amo announced this award as part of a multi-year, multi-billion dollar investment from HHS that supports critical public health infrastructure and workforce needs across the United States.
