Cincinnati Reds right-handed pitching prospect Rhett Lowder has been promoted from High-A Dayton to Double-A Chattanooga Lookouts. Lowder made five starts for the Dragons before his promotion, and his professional debut with the Dayton Dragons in April was impressive. He pitched four scoreless innings, allowing only two hits and one walk while striking out five batters. During his time with Dayton, Lowder showcased a 2.49 ERA and 0.947 WHIP in 25 1/3 innings, with six walks, 29 strikeouts, and two home runs allowed.

Lowder’s strong performance earned him a spot on MLB Pipeline’s top 100 list in January, where he debuted at No. 34 and currently sits at No. 30. His promotion coincided with right-handed pitcher Paul Skenes, last year’s first overall pick, moving up from Triple-A Indianapolis to the Majors. Skenes is slated to make his first big-league start against the Chicago Cubs on Saturday at PNC Park. Lowder, who was selected as the seventh overall pick in the 2023 draft, is now looking to continue his development in Chattanooga.

Andrew Moore has also been transferred from Chattanooga to Dayton as another right-handed pitcher in the Reds’ farm system has moved up through the ranks of the organization. Social media reactions to Lowder’s advancement have been positive, with fans and analysts acknowledging his progress and potential as he climbs through the ranks of the Reds’ farm system. The news of Lowder’s promotion has generated excitement among Cincinnati fans and baseball enthusiasts alike as they eagerly anticipate his continued success as he climbs through the ranks of the organization.

Overall, Rhett Lowder’s promotion to Double-A is an exciting development for both him and the Cincinnati Reds organization as they look forward to seeing what he can accomplish at this next level of play.
