Williams Racing is excited to announce the launch of Williams Grand Prix Technologies, a technology business focused on helping clients in various industries overcome engineering challenges. The new company will be headquartered at the team’s technology campus in Grove, UK, and will specialize in sectors such as wider motorsport, premium automotive, aerospace, defence, marine, energy, sport, and lifestyle.

Prior to the establishment of Williams Grand Prix Technologies, Williams had existing business interests beyond Formula One. The team previously owned a majority stake in Williams Hybrid Power and founded Williams Advanced Engineering, both of which utilized technology developed for Formula One for commercial applications. Williams Hybrid Power was later sold to GKN in March 2014, and Williams Advanced Engineering was sold to Fortescue in February 2022.

Williams Grand Prix Technologies brings with it extensive engineering experience and expertise that has been honed through years of high-level motorsport competition. The company’s chairman, Matthew Savage, expressed excitement about the new venture and highlighted the significant interest received from diverse clients even before the official launch. This unique pedigree is only possible due to Williams’ five decades of global motor racing competition.

Looking ahead to the future of the new company, Savage stated that they plan on leveraging their skills and assets to provide innovative solutions to customers while also having access to services from across Dorilton Group companies to further enhance their technologies and services offered to clients.

As we look forward to what’s ahead for Williams Grand Prix Technologies, we can also look forward to seeing the return of the Formula One team in China for their first race since 2019 at the Shanghai International Circuit from April 19th – 21st. Additionally, industry professionals are invited to attend the BlackBook Motorsport Forum’s 10th-anniversary edition this April in London where they will gain valuable insights into the transformation of motorsport and trends shaping up for next decade.
