The Fastpitch Space Coast World Series, taking place from June 23-28, is set to introduce a groundbreaking advancement in youth softball: instant replay technology. The United States Specialty Sports Association (USSSA) is dedicated to enhancing the participant experience at its events and this new technology is part of that commitment.
Ryan Highfill, National Fastpitch Director for USSSA, highlighted the importance of utilizing technology available at the Space Coast Complex to enable plays to be challenged effectively and efficiently through instant replay. This addition will provide significant value to participants and enhance the overall experience for all involved.
Teams competing in the designated games will have the opportunity to challenge one play per game each. If a team’s initial challenge is successful, they will be granted a second challenge option, with a maximum of two challenges per game. The integration of instant replay technology at the Space Coast Complex will combine the expertise of USSSA umpires with the advantages of modern technology, ensuring calls are made correctly.
