The new technology, known as “HxGN OnCall Dispatch,” is expected to revolutionize the way fire, medical, and police emergencies are handled in Guilford County and Greensboro.
According to Melanie Jones, Director of Guilford Metro 911, the new systems will provide easier communication abilities for their team and enable them to deploy resources more effectively. By implementing Hexagon, Guilford Metro 911 aims to become one of the most advanced communications centers in the nation. The new system has the potential to save lives by streamlining emergency response processes and ensuring that every second counts.
The current system being used dates back to the 1990s, so this represents a significant leap forward in terms of technology and efficiency. Hexagon’s next-gen features include real-time information access for police and EMS personnel while they are out in the field. This means they can access the same data as dispatchers on their phones or laptops, enabling them to respond more quickly and effectively to emergencies. Tammy Heaton, Vice President at Hexagon, highlighted the integration capabilities of their on-call dispatch system, which will allow for seamless communication with tools like rapid SOS. This will ultimately improve overall emergency response processes.
