The city of Ontario is currently offering business leases in its downtown area for only $1 per month as part of an initiative to attract more business owners and revitalize the area. The Downtown Ontario Retail Pop-Up Program is now accepting applications for this limited-time offer, which also includes free utilities and a Wi-Fi hotspot for approved businesses. If approved, business owners can take advantage of these services and the $1 monthly lease for up to six months.

The city of Ontario is fortunate enough to own the buildings in the downtown area, allowing them to offer leases at such a low cost. This initiative is aimed at lowering the barrier of entry for entrepreneurs looking to establish their businesses in the downtown area. Two entrepreneurs have already benefitted from the program by opening their own stores last year, and now the city is eager to fill the available spaces at Euclid Avenue and B Street with new businesses by the end of the year.

One successful entrepreneur who benefited from the program is Steven Alvarez, co-owner of Street Culture Boutique. He initially thought the offer was too good to be true, but thanks to the $1 rent, he was able to focus on growing his business and marketing his products to attract more customers. Alvarez sees great potential in Ontario’s downtown area, comparing it to downtown LA in terms of activity and nightlife.

Business owners interested in leasing one of the available properties in the program have until Monday, June 24 to submit their applications. Along with their application, applicants must also apply for necessary permits, provide proof of general liability insurance, make a deposit of $1 per square foot, and sign a release of liability waiver and Right of Entry permit.
